FAQs

Here are some of our most frequently asked questions:

What are the requirements for boarding or attending daycare? Your dog needs to be up to date on vaccines, and not have received any vaccines within two weeks of your reservation. I do not take dogs who are aggressive or have been aggressive toward people or other dogs. Please note: Summer is prime time for contagious viruses like kennel cough to get passed from dog to dog. This is an absolute nightmare for a dog kennel. Our #1 goal is to keep the dogs who come here safe, and that means we have to have strict rules. The Bordetella (kennel cough) vaccine only protects against some strains of the virus. It does not offer 100% protection. In addition to a two-week waiting period after vaccines, we also ask that you refrain from attending other doggy daycares/boarding for two weeks prior to your reservation with us. This will help cut down on a virus potentially being spread from kennel to kennel in our community! Please also be mindful of grooming appointment timing, dog park visits, etc., to try and minimize your dog’s exposure prior to their reservation here.

What payment methods do you accept? Cash, check, CashApp, and Venmo.

Will my dog get enough exercise? Yes! We go out multiple times a day for potty breaks and playtime! I have a very energetic yellow lab, and totally understand how important it is for a dog to get plenty of exercise and stimulation. A full day of play helps our boarded dogs sleep well–and our daycare dogs will likely go home ready to rest as well!

Do you accommodate special circumstances, like a particular diet or medications? Short answer: yes! I’ve diapered older dogs, given home cooked boiled chicken to others, and dispensed meds as directed by owners. I just ask that you communicate special needs to me prior to your dog’s reservation!

Can I check on my dog while he/she is staying at Barkansas? Definitely! Feel free to reach out to check on your furbaby. I try to send updates via text or Facebook messenger, but you are always welcome to check in. I also post photos on the Barkansas Facebook page as I have time.

What if there is an emergency? As any dog owner knows, sometimes there are circumstances that pop up that need medical attention. Our first step is calling you to let you know what’s happening. If you are unavailable, we will contact the emergency contact you provided. If the situation requires immediate attention, we are about 8 miles from the nearest vet’s office, and that is where we would go–we would ask that you/your emergency contact meet us there.

How do I make a reservation? Click here to request a reservation. You can also text or call 501-288-7614, e-mail barkansasdogboarding@outlook.com, or send a message to the Barkansas Facebook page.

What is the best way to contact you? Text message or Facebook message is the absolute best way. It is almost impossible to take a phone call if I’m in the kennel building or play yard, which is where the majority of my day is spent!
