Hi, Barkansas friends! We have a few new and updated policies that will be effective January 1, 2025! See below and don’t hesitate to contact us if you have any questions!

Overnight Boarding:

Rates:

There is a discount for dogs who share a kennel. The first (and largest) dog is regular price, and the second (or third if the dogs are small) dog in the kennel is discounted by $5 per night. In order to share a kennel, dogs must get along well and be able to eat in the same space without issues. We have a limited number of kennels that can house multiple dogs, so it’s best to reserve early if that is something you need!

Please note: boarding rates are for 24 hours. (Morning drop off–>morning pick up/ afternoon drop off–>afternoon pick up) If you drop your dog off in the morning but want them to stay until afternoon pick up, you’ll need to pay for daycare ($12) on pick up day. For example: Jane drops off her dog at 7 a.m. on Tuesday morning and picks her dog up at 5 p.m. on Wednesday afternoon. Jane will be charged for one night of boarding for Tuesday and one day of daycare for Wednesday.

Drop off/Pick up times:

Monday-Saturday: 7-9 or 3-5

Sunday: Afternoons only 3-5

I recommend morning drop off for all dogs if possible–that gives your dog the chance to play all day, get acquainted with the kennel, and get rid of any nervous energy before bedtime. *If your dog has never boarded or attended daycare at Barkansas, morning drop off is required for their first stay.*

*Please note: I will ask you to text or call when you are headed my way for drop off and also for pick up. This is so I won’t be in the play yard with a group of dogs playing when you arrive. It makes it much easier if there are no other dogs in the play yard during your drop off and pick up!

Group Play Daycare

Group play daycare dates are limited. Because we are such a small capacity kennel, our group daycare availability hinges on how many boarded dogs we have at that time. At this time, I am not accepting any new daycare-only dogs. Daycare spots are reserved for dogs who have previously attended daycare here, boarded here, or dogs who have upcoming boarding reservations and are getting used to being here prior to boarding.

The charge is $12 a day. Daycare drop off is 7-9 and pick up is 3-5.

On days when our local forecast calls for severe weather (including all day rain, ice, snow, below freezing temps most of the day, and severe thunderstorms), group daycare will be cancelled. I will contact all who have signed up and let them know if there is a weather cancellation. I’ll typically do this by 5 pm the day before your appointed daycare day.

Payment:

I accept cash, check, or CashApp. I will no longer be able to accept Venmo. Payment is due by the time you pick your dog up. Please note: if your dog is boarding more than 7 nights, you will need to pay HALF the total amount at drop off and the remainder at pick up.

Additional Policies:

Upon arrival for the first time, you will be required to sign a liability contract that outlines each of our expectations. Your dog will not be permitted to stay without a signed contract on file.

If your dog has ever shown aggressive tendencies, destructive tendencies, or is an excessive barker, it is expected that you will disclose that information prior to booking. It is our goal to keep the kennel environment a safe, positive experience for all dogs.

Dogs must be up to date on vaccines and all vaccines should be given at least 2 weeks prior to boarding/daycare.

Dogs should be on a flea/tick prevention as well as a heartworm preventative.

You will need to provide food, treats, and bedding for your dog’s stay. I suggest bringing the food in Ziplock bags already portioned out, especially for shorter stays. For longer stays, whole bags or containers of dogfood is fine!
